There are some great benefits to living in the city of Atlanta some of which are the convenience of being in the city where there is so much life and energy; being close to the parks, activities and events that surround the city; and of course we can’t forget the wonderful city views from the hi-rise luxury condos that loom over Atlanta.   Some of the benefits of living in the outlining counties are more affordable housing with more space and acreage, larger houses some in shared gated as well as many in ungated communities, lower taxes, better educational opportunities for families with children and less hustle and bustle.

38% of the Black population are millennial between the age of 18 and 34 years of age, then there is generation X who are between the ages of 35 and 49 years of age and are 27% of the population, the next 28% are boomers between 50 years and 69 years old followed by the silent generation 70+ at 7% .

Lead by the District of Columbia @ 28.2 and Maryland with 19.3.

Just a sideline, Atlanta is growing every day in its diversity.  The Latino/Hispanics populations have been the fastest growing ethnic group, it increased by 103.6% or by 278,459 in ten years from 2001 to 2010.  The major Hispanic/Latino groups include; Mexicans, Puerto Ricans and Cubans.  The Asian population is also growing mainly the Indians, Koreans, Chinese and the Vietnamese.   Not to mention that Georgia has the largest Bosnian population with approximately 10,000 primarily in Gwinnett county and DeKalb county.  Looking at the Atlanta metro population as a whole 83.3% speak English and 8.8% speak Spanish.  As a result of the increasing Spanish speakers in Atlanta HotLanta is now ranked the 15th in the country with a large Spanish speaking community.

It doesn’t matter if you live in any of the Atlanta metro areas counties when someone not from the area asks where we live.  It is just easier to say “Atlanta”.
